Ash smothered old songs; banners of braided bone crowned engines that belched stars. Warlords and malice‑mages turned conquest into craft. Their first stellar triumph, the Battle of Kharaz Nebula, saw ramships and spike‑drakes smash the Free Systems’ fleet and seize a relic reactor. Kharaz fed the Horde’s forges for generations and became doctrine: take planets as you take villages—burn fast, harvest harder. The victory was carved on commanders’ throatbones and blasted as a rallying scream across starways. On ringless moons they raised star‑fortresses and bred shadow‑alloy hybrids. Diplomats brought treaties; the New Horde replied with siege and satire—terms inked in blood. Resistance was processed: hope harvested as fertilizer for expansion. Conquest ossified into bureaucracy—annexation ledgers, rebellion quotas, extermination timetables. Even crude battle‑chants acquired a mechanical cadence, recited between assembly lines. Cynically, they ruled not for love of power but for the pleasure of efficient taking. The final log written in blood read: "We expand because stopping would be inefficient." |
